The above is a new series of paintings that includes a variety of mountain landscapes. Through experimentation of color and transparencies, I am able to create depth to the landscapes and push them to the verge of abstraction. Many of these also include materials such as Japanese paper and sand that adds texture to the paintings.
This is an extension of the abstract landscape series of paintings. These are study paintings where I am able to explore color relationships, materials, and using geometric shapes to execute landscapes. The paintings all include acrylic paint with a mixture of gold leaf, sand acrylic medium, and Japanese paper. All 10 of these paintings are 6"x 5.25" on a .5" wood block.
